I think there should NEVER have firework displays in parks or near housing estates! People are very insensitive parking there cars no consideration for people living in and around Sefton Park!! I am so pleased it’s organised over the river!

Sorry but I am pleased they are not having fireworks at Sefton Park. I live in this area and it’s a nightmare trying to get through the traffic, just to get home from work! Not to mention parking problems, it causes!

Brilliant idea to hold the display at the Albert Dock and not in the parks. Not only is it far easier to Police the event, it also helps keep the undesirable lower class, Lark Lane type, rabble away. Top marks.

Disgraceful! Absolutely disgraceful! Fat cats get fatter on our taxes then do whatever they bloody like with them. River of light vs displays in parks – goes without saying! As if the Albert Dock needs more revenue with the visitors it gets on a daily basis. In comparison to the businesses in and around Sefton Park. Ludicrous and greedy! Extremely disappointing.

Scandolous yet again by the descision makers at the council if these people cut down on the lunchs there might be enough money in the kitty to pay for the displays

This is disgusting. Such a sad thing to cancel these event we look forward to this every year and pay our taxes it is not our fault they cant manage their finances well! We have gone attended the sefton park display for years, getting into town plus parking/finding a place to watch it would be an absolute nightmare. Local businesses around Sefton park will also suffer as so many people make an evening out of it so use local bars / restaurants. Our children will be so disappointed:( such a sad thing no more memory making!

Have been going to Sefton Park firework display every year since it moved there from Speke. I will not be able to get into town and home again in time to have my children in bed – I don’t mind them staying up late on occasion but they will not be able to cope – they’re toddlers who get ratty after bedtime! The flow of traffic and people is going to be a nightmare. Why can’t LCC organise both? They are just doing it to save money. Really sad about this.

That’s just terrible decision by Council. Forcing all the families with young ones to travel all the way to town at that time of the time. There should be 3 shows in Sefton park n then reducing from 3 shows to 2 to 1 in the end. That’s just wrong decision. They should start again either from this year or from next year at least 1 show in Sefton park.

Very poor of LCC to cancel the Sefton Park and Newsham Park firework displays – there will be thousands of disappointed people missing these traditional, long standing family events.
The River of Light event is a joint venture between LCC And Wirral council but the Wirral is still putting on 7 other displays including 5 in Birkenhead.
Can’t imagine the traffic heading towards the river on the night!
